A day at the zoo

Today we took our first trip to the Hensen Robinson Zoo in Springfield. I think I can speak for both of us and say we had a really good time. She was fun to watch. We looked at goats, bears, monkeys, a horse and many other animals I don't remember. Before we went to the zoo I asked her what do you see at a zoo and she answered "frogs". I thought that was a pretty good answer, even though we didn't see any frogs today. I think her favorite part of our day was her trip to the playground. She is getting so grown up climbing the stairs and going down the slides all by herself.

After the zoo, we met Chris at Noodle and Co., one of the newest places to eat in Springfield. If you like macoroni and cheese I recommend it. Addison ate most of hers, so it must be really good. We had a great day. It makes me sad to think summer vacation is almost over...4 days to be exact.

So Sweet

When she is sleeping she is really quiet, but when she's not she is quite the talker. She is talking so well. It is fun. She can tell us about her day, what she wants and of course, what she doesn't what. Her are a few of her favorite things to say lately.....

Hiding in the Corner

The other day I was in the kitchen doing something and didn't hear Addison playing. I went looking for her and found her sitting in the corner on the landing of our steps with my McDonald's cup. I had a moment of anxiety when I couldn't find her for a second. But once I did I had a big smile on my face. She looked so cute sitting there. I think she was trying to hide from me. She has been into hiding from us lately. She wouldn't win at hide and seek though. If you can't find her, or you are pretending not to find her, she tells you where she is hiding. She was hiding behind a tree outside and she eventually said, "behind the tree, behind the tree".

My Little Helper

Addison has not wanted to wear a diaper lately and I gave in and let her run around the house naked. She only went pee on the floor twice. She does have a rash all over her body, so maybe the diaper rubs up against it and makes her itch. Yes, you are not imagining it, if you look really close Addison is naked and helping me in the kitchen. Not very sanitary, I know. We are peeling hard boiled eggs to make deviled eggs. She did a good job cracking the egg on the counter but after that she destroyed it. When throwing the shells in the garbage she tried to eat some of the shells. Thank goodness I shoved her hand away from her mouth and she didn't succeed. She really liked eating the deviled eggs, not something I would have expected. But as I am learning it is hard to know what to expect from a toddler. It was fun playing kitchen with her, messy, but fun!!!

Our little plumber

She will hate this picture when she gets older but how many times in your life are you told you have a cute little butt. I'm surprised the diaper stayed on at all. Have you held one of those diapers when it gets really wet, they feel like they weigh a couple of pounds.

I float!!

Addison is getting brave in the bath tub. Tonight she was floating all by herself. The water was not very deep but she did a great job of lying back and getting back up all on her own. She is quite the little fish as she swims in the tub too.

1985 Cabbage Patch Doll

Tonight Chris, Addison and I were going through boxes of stuff from my childhood. When mom and dad moved from Mt. Zion they put alot of my stuff in my grandparents garage. The boxes finally found me...grandma and grandpa moved too and wanted it out of their garage. Anyway, we found my beloved Cabbage Patch dolls. We found seven of them in the box, one of them is Brandon's however. I think I had too many because I only remember the names of my first two, Stella and Katherine. The other four shall remain nameless, unless Addison decides to name them. It was fun looking at my old things. It reminds me of how great my childhood was and of all the fond memories I have of growing up in Mt. Zion with mom, dad, and Brandon. Thanks mom and dad for taking such good care of me and giving me a wonderful childhood full of wonderful memories.

Pa's Pretty!

The other day we were sitting on mom and dad's back porch. We were talking about something being pretty and we asked her "who's pretty", expecting her to say "Addison's pretty". She looked at me, Chris, mom and dad. After studying us all for a while she said, "Pa's pretty". We all just started to giggle. It was really funny. Not that dad isn't pretty, but as he said, "boys are handsome".

Getting Tall

You might not be able to tell in this picture, but the dress Addison is wearing is getting shorter everytime she wears it. I am not sure what size the dress is, but from the back you can see her diaper. Not only are her dresses getting shorter, she can reach all the door knobs and turn them, climb up on the couch unassisted and take cups off of tables, what happened to that little baby?

Mustard Anyone?

Addison likes to get things out of the refrigerator. Sometimes when I want to get somethings done in the kitchen I just let her take out whatever she wants. In this picture she had all of her items and then had to have a plate. She lines them up, pretends to be pouring them out onto her plate and has a great time. She even does a pretty good job of putting them away. I'll take that the soy sause and baby food jar were in the pepsi fridge box, at least she put them back in the fridge.

I think Addison looks so cute in this picture. The picture summarizes the day(Monday) for me. We had a great day. We didn't have to be anywhere or do anything. Addison woke up early scratching her legs and bottom. She has a rash, either from the sun, sunscreen or both, from vacation. I gave her some benedryl and she (and I) had an earlier than usual nap. It was a pretty long nap too. We played inside most of the day since it was so hot and humid. Later in the day we played in Elmo sprinkler, ate macaroni and cheese for dinner and listened to the thunderstorm. She is so much fun.
